We also recognize that obtaining professional diagnostic assessments isn't always financially feasible for every family. That's why we've established The Finery’s Little Learners Trust—to support local families from anywhere in Central Otago by providing financial assistance for essential diagnostic assessments, helping tamariki reach their full learning potential.

While private assessments are often quicker and easier to access, they can be costly. The Finery’s Little Learners Trust invites you to apply for financial support. Please talk to your school about the application process and how best to prepare your request.
If you are unsure which assessment is suitable, we encourage you to consult with your GP, early childhood centre, or school for guidance.

“The Little Learners Trust enabled my family to get a formal dyslexia diagnosis for my daughter. From her early schooling years we had known this was her learning struggle but it became clear that the formal testing would be valuable for her learning journey, particularly going forwards into secondary school. The testing would provide learning tools not just for my daughter, but for her teachers going forward.
This process is costly and as a widowed mother of 2 children, the funding weighed heavily on my mind, but I felt it was necessary, so I proceeded to enquire into the testing.
In doing so, the Learning Support Coordinator at school informed me that we may be eligible for funding from the Little Learners Trust and applied on our behalf. We were thrilled to hear it was accepted, providing for nearly half of the cost of the testing.
The financial assistance for this has been graciously received, and helped take the weight from my shoulders. Thank you Little Learners Trust.”
